Feb. '08 - Fjalakötturinn

One of the most vicious predators in Iceland is the Fjalaköttur. Ever since Iceland was first inhabited, the Fjalaköttur has been here, stealing sheep, dogs and sometimes babies to eat. At first it lived in caves out in the country but as Reykjavík grew into a city, the Fjalaköttur grew more fond of city meat. It does not live in the city as it is too big to hide very well there, but it can often be seen jumping between rooftops or lurking around in dark alleys. It is especially fond of the centre and the old west side of town.
